RNA – Speaking during his advanced jurisprudence class in Qom’s Grand Mosque, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani referred to the numerous events in Iran’s history that occurred during the Iranian month of Aban (October-November) and said, “November 4th is one of the most important and decisive days in the history of the Islamic Revolution.”

The revered source of emulation added that October 26th, 1964 was the day when the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeyni, spoke about the Capitulation bill, which was promulgated by the tyrant Shah of Iran, Mohammad-Reza Pahlavi, which was a great humiliation for Iran.

“With this bill, the Americans guaranteed impunity to their citizens in Iran and we had no right to protest,” he added.

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani stated, “In such sensitive situations, Imam Khomeyni said, ‘the one who does not speak out is guilty and evil.’ The Imam spoke decisively and after his speech on the October 26th, the Imam was exiled [to the Turkish city of Bursa] on November 4th, 1964.”

The prominent teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said that the Pahlavi regime was afraid of Imam Khomeyni because his existence in Iran created problems for them and they deported him to Turkey so that they Imam’s statements would not have an effect in Iran.

He considered the 1979 capture and takeover of the Den of Spies [the moniker given to the American embassy in Tehran by Iranian revolutionaries] by the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam’s Line as one of the of the other events that occurred on November 4th, saying, “November 4th is very important and it is a day of struggle against the arrogant powers and a day of the realization of the revolutionary movements and the recognition of the enemies and mercenaries.”

In another part of his remarks, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani referred to the great pilgrimage of Arba’in al-Husayni, saying, “Arba’in is a great movement by the lovers of the Ahlul-Bayt in the world, in which millions of people from all over the world walk to Karbala in devotion to Imam al-Husayn and participate in the pilgrimage.”

His Eminence said, “The Arba’in pilgrimage is very important and must always be strengthened. The flag of Karbala must always be raised so that everyone can benefit from its guidance and those who are pilgrims have a lot of grace and we hope that they pray for us.”

During the days leading up to Arba’in, millions of pilgrims throughout the Islamic world walk to the city of Karbala, where Imam al-Husayn and his companions are buried, from Najaf, another holy city in Iraq, to show their devotion. The two cities are more than 75 kilometres apart.

This year, the day of Arba’in will fall on November 9th and on this day, the pilgrims will converge on the city of Karbala and make a pilgrimage to the holy shrines of Imam al-Husayn, his brother Abbas ibn Ali, and his companions.
