RNA – Speaking during his advanced jurisprudence course in Qom’s Grand Mosque on Wednesday, Grand Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani slammed the prosecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and said, “The ongoing events in Myanmar have broken my heart and whenever I see the photos of children and displaced women crying, I become very sad.”
The revered source of emulation noted, “I hope that Muslims in Myanmar are liberated from the injustice and oppression imposed by their dictator rulers.”
Referring the Myanmarese military regime’s persecution of the Rohingya Muslim minority in the southeast Asian country’s Rakhine State, Ayatollah Sobhani added, “The Commander of the Faithful [Imam Ali] has said that God will destroy the wicked people of the world after a long period and prosperity. Myanmar’s rulers have displaced Muslim children and women from their homes and cities over false pretexts over intellectually disagreements with them and God Almighty will punish the oppressors after a period of time.”
His Eminence noted, “This is because these rulers oppose the fundamental doctrine and logic of Islam.”
The renowned teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom explained that after the end of a divine period, the backs of these tyrants of the time in Myanmar will be broken and stated, “If someone suffers defeat, God will compensate them for their hardships and afterwards an opening will come.”
Ayatollah Sobhani said, “Muslims who are under pressure in the world and according to our narrations and the Holy Quran, it has been explained that they must be hopeful. The life of the oppressors has reached its end and oppression and disasters turn man into iron so they can stand up against the oppressors and confront them. Man must trust in the divine promises.”
Myanmar’s security forces and armed Buddhist extremists have been carrying out atrocities against the Rohingya in the Muslim-majority Rakhine State for several months.
According to multiple reports, entire villages of Rohingya Muslims have been burnt to the ground. A large number of Muslims, including women and children, have been burnt alive, lynched to death or lost their lives while fleeing the ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya people.
