RNA – In an interview with the Iranian media, Salah al-Zawawi, the envoy of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to Iran, emphasized, “Today, we should unite to not be cursed tomorrow,” and added, “We must only lay our weapons down after the liberation of Palestine.”

He also congratulated the Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah Islamic Resistance organization, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Hasan Nasrallah and conveyed his greetings to Hezbollah and the martyrs of this organization and their families.

Referring to the leader of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, Imam Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeyni, who overthrew the American-backed Pahlavi monarchy, al-Zawawi reiterated, “Iran was dominated by the United States and the Zionist regime but a great man named Imam Khomeyni came and assisted the Palestinian intifadah.”

The Palestinian Ambassador pointed out, “[The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution] Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei is a wise, honest, faithful, brave, steadfast leader and a lover of Palestine.”

al-Zawawi’s visit to Iran was in conjunction with the visit of a high-level delegation from Hamas to Iran and said that the visit was commissioned by their leadership.

During his visit, he met with a number of Iranian leaders and officials.

He added, “This visit was based on the Hamas leadership’s sense of duty.”

The Palestinian Embassy in Tehran belongs to both Hamas and other Palestinian groups.

Last week, Fatah and Hamas signed a provisional unity agreement in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in which the latter agreed to dissolve its administrative committee in the Gaza Strip.
