RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Ahmad Mousavi, the deputy parliamentary chairman of Iran’s ninth administration, referred to the issue of the separation of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region following the region’s independence referendum on September 25th and said, “The main policy of the hegemonic powers of the world is to create obstacles in the Middle East so that the region, especially its Muslims, will never see beauty and peace.”
The representative of the people of Ahvaz in the Islamic Consultative Assembly said that in order to keep the region and the Muslims in a state of discomfort and difficulty, the hegemonic powers are always “placing new plots on the table” such as the issue of separating the Kurdistan Region from Iraq or establishing Takfiri terrorist groups such as Daesh.
Hujjat al-Islam Mousavi stated, “The Daesh terrorist Takfiri group was actually a plot launched by the hegemonic powers of the world. Currently, they are struggling with internal problems and interestingly, the weapons that the Daesh terrorist Takfiri group uses itself, were manufactured by the United States.”
Iran’s former ambassador to Syria said, “With the support of the our religious authorities and the advice of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Daesh terrorist Takfiri group is in decline and in the near future the complete disappearance of this oppressive group will be heard by the seekers of freedom and Muslims around the world.”
Regarding the defeat of Daesh and the bitter consequences of this defeat for the founders of this Takfiri terrorist group, he said, “The defeat of Daesh in the coming days is considered as bitter news for the hegemonic powers the founders of this terrorist group.”
Hujjat al-Islam Mousavi said, “The hegemonic regime is seeking to establish Kurdistan as a new Israel in the region and this new Israel began by discussing independence and separation from the legal Iraqi state and with the support of Israel, the leaders of this region are seeking to separate.”
The former head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said, “The plan to separate Kurdistan from Iraq is completely illegal, and so far, the Iraqi people, the law of this country, international legal centres and the religious authorities have not given permission for this region to separate from Iraq and they are completely opposed to this issue.”
Hujjat al-Islam Mousavi said that this sedition and plot to separation the Kurdistan Region from Iraq by the Zionist regime will not be their last plot, and we should always be vigilant and observe the enemies and strive to increase our insight.
In defiance of Iraq’s stiff opposition, the Kurdistan Regional Government held a non-binding referendum on September 25 on secession from the central government in Baghdad.
Official results showed 92.73% of voters backed the secession. Turnout was put at 72.61%.
While much of the international community, including the United Nations, the European Union and Iraq’s neighbours, have opposed the referendum, Israel has been the only entity to openly support an independent Kurdish state, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backing "the legitimate efforts of the Kurdish people to attain a state” of their own.
