Qom Friday Prayer Leader:
Rasa – Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a flagbearer in the fight against oppression, must complain to the international community and call on Islamic countries to help the oppressed.”

RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Quds Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Seyyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri condemned the brutal crimes against the oppressed Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar, saying that more than 400,000 Rohingya Muslims have been displaced and their homes have been burnt.

“Some have suggested that these killings are a part of an ethnic conflict between Muslim and Buddhist groups but the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] has said that this dispute is specifically a political issue because the government and army are involved in these killings,” he stated.

The member of the board of directors of the Assembly of Experts said that Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor of Myanmar, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, has taken the honour away from this prize and according to the statement of the Supreme Leader, Myanmar’s crackdown on Rohingya Muslims marks the “death of the Nobel Peace Prize.”

“The history of Nobel Peace has demonstrated that the award has been mostly given to those who are either criminals or those who have fought against others and of course, we shouldn’t expect anything else from American human rights,” he stressed.

Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri added that these crimes are taking place in front of the eyes of the world, international forums and human rights organizations and stated, “The United Nations only condemns both sides without any shame and Islamic countries are sedentary and don’t take any practical action. Unfortunately, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is silent and doesn’t do anything.”

“Of course, many of the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are involved in the murder of Muslims, patronizing terrorists and have equipped Daesh with weapons.
For this reason, they don’t want to become involved in this adventure but the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran is against oppression, terrorism and authoritarianism,” he added.

The member of the Supreme Council of the Seminary said, “Although the authorities have taken actions regarding the issue of Myanmar and condemned this move, our authorities must take more serious steps in this regard. The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the flagbearer of the fight against oppression in the world today, must complain to all international organizations and mobilizing Islamic countries against the oppressors.”

In other remarks, Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri commemorated the day of the revelation of Ayat al-Tathir, the Verse of Purification, and the Day of Mubahilah and said, “In the Verse of Purification, God states that the Holy Household [of the Prophet Muhammad] is safe and purified from any evil and Ayat al-Wilayah, the Verse of Guardianship, was also revealed on these days and we consider the Day of Mubahilah as important so we should be grateful to the Holy Household and we should explain to the people the importance of these days and the events that took place.”

Referring to the beginning of the upcoming solemn month of Muharram, His Eminence noted that speakers and elegists must act in a way that the communities are influenced by the tragedy of Karbala and the message of Ashura as the lessons and messages of Ashura are very constructive for society.

“Freedom, liberty, being belief-driven and duty-driven are among the lessons of Ashura. Ashura teaches us to be uncompromising and dignified in the face of the enemies,” Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri concluded.
