RNA – During his lesson at Qom’s Ayatollah Golpaygani Seminary, Ayatollah Javad Marvi, a member of the Supreme Council of the Seminary, referred to the upcoming solemn month of Muharram and noted that the revival of Ashura is very important.
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom added, “It’s our duty to pay attention to this great tragedy which has undoubtedly contributed to the survival of Islam. There are many narrations which state that love for Imam Husayn and performing pilgrimage to his grave symbolizes the salvation of a human being. These narrations imply that those who are on this path are guided to the path of goodness.”
He stressed that the significance of this event given the current events of the world should be well explained to the people and the seminarians must act in this regard.
In regard to this statement, Ayatollah Marvi referred to the tragic events occurring in Myanmar where the southeast Asian country’s Rohingya Muslim minority is facing genocide and stated, “It is very difficult for Muslims. The events that are occurring are in the hands of a person who has been given the Nobel Peace Prize from the ‘United Governments,’ not the United Nations.”
He said that Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor of Myanmar, was a criminal but was honoured and awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, said, “This wild savage is committing the worst crimes against the oppressed Muslim people of Myanmar. How can such grave incidents be carried out against a group of oppressed people by those who claim to be peacekeepers? The face of the peacekeepers of the international community are such individuals.”
He said, “All those who are sometimes deceived by such titles know what their state is. Sometimes they shout about the state of an animal or make a big deal about an imprisoned person in another country but when all this disaster happens in front of their eyes, they are silent and don’t say anything.”
Ayatollah Marvi also referred to the ongoing Saudi-led war on the impoverished Arab country of Yemen and noted, “Yemen is another Myanmar that must not be neglected. There is also an ongoing catastrophe against Muslims in this country and the days of Muharram are the best opportunity to remind the people of these issues and gain the attention of Muslims and Shi’ahs regarding this subject.”
The Iranian cleric said that the Saudi plan for Yemen was to establish a puppet government within a month to 40 days, saying, “They wanted to declare to the entire Muslim world that they are conquerors but more than two years have passed and they haven’t succeeded. They’ve bribed many countries but even in areas of Yemen under their control, they couldn’t set up their own puppet government for even one hour.”
Ayatollah Marvi noted that Yemen has been Saudi Arabia’s backyard and the Saudis are heavily in need of a relationship but this isn’t a relationship and communications based on dialogue and said, “Of course, it should be noted and made clear and the people must not imagine that the Al Saud is changing its behaviour and behaving well but rather, the Al Saud need this issue and also the Al Saud are the ones who hit the Hajj pilgrims with an iron fist.”
