RNA – Speaking at a memorial ceremony for Martyr Hadi Baghbani at Imam Reza Mosque in Tehran’s Hakimiyeh district, Hujjat al-Islam Heydar Moslehi, the former Iranian intelligence minister, referred to the model of the martyrs of Imam al-Husayn sand said, “If we address history as if it happened as we see it today, certainly the movement of Imam al-Husayn would have been distorted by the arrogant powers and the Zionists.”
The Iranian cleric said, “Four decades have passed since the Islamic Revolution and there have been many events during this period – terror, war and sedition – however, yet some people within the country have been hypocrites and they have been more elaborate than the hypocrites of the 1980s. Various phenomena throughout the past four decades have been analyzed and today, we’re stable. For this reason, we must learn from history.”
He said, “One of the groups that the Quran specifically discusses are the Jews and Christians, whose contemporary examples are the United States and Europe. It’s said in the Quran that that we mustn’t take the Jews and Christians as our guardians. This is also true today and we shouldn’t follow United States and Europe. Today, the US speaks about putting the military option on the table and on the other hand, there are some inside the country who look toward the US and Europe and they believe that the problems facing Iran can only be solved by the West.”
Hujjat al-Islam Moslehi said, “Today, thanks to the blessed existence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] and his guidance, our country stands against the US. According to the American leadership, they can’t make any mistake but today we see that the US has endangered the region while Iran enjoys complete safety.”
He noted that today, the US considers itself as the sheriff of the region and when ten members of the American navy were arrested by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy in 2016, they were shocked by fear and added, “Of course, it shouldn’t be forgotten that this security came with a high cost. In the Sacred Defense [Iran-War] and defense of the Holy Shrines, the US had experiences dealing with Iran.”
The former intelligence minister pointed out that NATO provided an analysis of Aleppo saying, “Our actions in Aleppo and around it were such that the [Syrian army and its allies] couldn’t be victorious in Aleppo” and replied, “From their perspective, the Syrian government cannot do anything to retake Aleppo, but we saw that Aleppo was liberated by the Islamic Resistance and the Syrian Arab Army and the Defenders of the Holy Shrines.”
He added, “The Quran expresses the history of the past for us to learn from. In recent years, 25 million pilgrims have participated in the Arba’in pilgrimage and the US intelligence agency carried out an investigation into the number of pilgrims attending the pilgrimage by sending 500 students and ultimately they realized that this event and congregation of pilgrims is a threat to the US.”
Hujjat al-Islam Moslehi concluded, “We should not forget the path of the martyrs. Our revolution has had many ups and downs, but we see that we’ve come through with pride and this is due to the blood of the martyrs.”
