RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi referred to the recent killings of Shi’ah Muslims in the village of Mirza Olang in Afghanistan’s northern Sar-e Pol province and condemned this terrorist act and said, “We strongly condemn this inhumane tragedy and killings of the people of Mirza Olang and these actions are a source of regret.”
On August 10, Taliban militants executed some 60 Shi’ah civilians who were taken hostage in the remote village. The militants set fire to several mosques, torched at least 30 houses, beheaded a number of villagers and shot dozens of others dead.
Ayatollah Ka’bi said, “Every free man with an awakened conscience is upset about these issues. Hence, by condemning these acts, all international institutions and the freedom-seeking people of the world will prevent such crimes from continuing. Unfortunately, due to indifference and tragic silence, this issue has come face-to-face with international organizations.”
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom explained that the criminal perpetrators of this massacre are from various groups and the responsibility for this disaster will not be diminished from the duty of the government of Afghanistan to ensure the security and survival of the Shi’ah and added, “First of all, officials of the central government of Afghanistan and its local authorities should provide grounds for the security for the oppressed people and strongly deal with the perpetrators of this inhumane crime and, by arresting them, it will lead to the release of the hostages.”
He added, “Afghan officials should take appropriate measures to alleviate the pain and compensate the people for the damages. Also, a truth-finding committee should be established by the Afghan government to weaken the ability the perpetrators to carry out further crimes as soon as possible.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi stated that, unfortunately, we are seeing negligence regarding this issue and added, “The disagreements and quarrels on the one hand and the marginalization of the issue of security for the oppressed people on the other hand have caused this crime to be carried out the bloodthirsty and inhumane Daesh criminals with their Takfiri ideology.”
He said that the fact that these crimes are attributed to specific cases doesn’t reduce the responsibility of the Afghan government and its central and local authorities and said, “According to the Afghan constitution, a human rights committee and truth-seeking committees should be formed in this regard.”
The representative of Khuzestan in the Assembly of Experts pointed out, “We are concerned that such incidents will be repeated due to negligence. While we offer our condolences to the honourable people of Afghanistan, we call on the government of the country to use all of their strength to ensure the safety of the oppressed people.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi added, “The officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran should warn the Afghan government and help to protect the security of the oppressed Shi’ah people in these areas as well as providing assistance in terms of relief and charity.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi said that behind the scenes of the massacre against the oppressed Shi’ah people in Afghanistan, Daesh was armed by Americans in northwest Afghanistan and for some time there have been movements in that area which seek to kill Shi’ahs and create widespread defiance in Afghanistan.
He added that the Afghan people should recognize that the United States as responsible for these crimes and urge their government to pursue this issue, saying, “Recently Henry Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State under Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, told US President Donald Trump ‘if Daesh collapses and is annihilated, then an Iranian empire will be formed in western Asia. For this reason, Daesh mustn’t fall, but must remain under American control.’”
“Therefore, the US is responsible for the recent crimes in Afghanistan,” Ayatollah Ka’bi stressed.
