RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbala’i, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Karbala, met with Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani, a revered Iranian source of emulation, at the house of His Eminence in the holy Iranian city of Mashhad, for a discussion.

During this meeting, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that due to being blessed with the presence of the sacred shrines, Iraq was considered a sacred land and said, “The recent victories over the Daesh Takfiri terrorists in Iraq comes from the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom, which exists due to the blessings of the Infallible Family of the Prophet Muhammad in this land.”

The revered teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said that reliance on God, the unity and solidarity between the various ethnic groups, sects and religions, the existence of clean and religious youth and the central role of the “obligatory jihad” fatwa issued by Ayatollah al-Sistani were the keys to the victory against Daesh and called for the preservation of this unity.

In June 2014, Ayatollah al-Sistani called on all Iraqi citizens to defend “the country, its people, the honour of its citizens, and its sacred sites against the threats posed by the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.”

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said this fatwa was very timely and effective and emphasized, “This important and historic fatwa has led the enemies of Islam to understand the power and influence of the Shi’ah religious authorities.”

On July 10, Iraqi Prime Minister Haydar al-Abadi formally declared victory over Daesh terrorists in Mosul after eight months of fighting to retake the city, which served as the terrorists’ main urban stronghold in the conflict-ridden Arab country.

Referring to the importance of issues of the Islamic seminaries of the Shi’ah world, His Eminence called for greater communication between the seminaries of Qom and Najaf.
