RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi, the representative of the people of Khuzestan province in the Assembly of Experts, referred to the hostile and mischievous behaviour of the United States in breach of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the imposition of new sanctions on Iran, saying, “Unfortunately, the [Rouhani] administration has so far proved is inability to manage the nuclear file and the JCPOA.”

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom added that more than ever before, the US is excessive and obstinate regarding the imposition of sanctions, its behaviour and grudges and added, “The government must respond to this issue. The work and actions in the nuclear case should be monitored by a delegation under the watch of the JCPOA.”

Ayatollah Ka’bi argued that the Board of Supervisors of the JCPOA should assess the government’s responses to the past and present, stated, “The Board of Supervisors must also take appropriate actions in relation to the future measures alongside the Supreme National Security Council and provide the government with information.”

His Eminence continued, “The government should have taken a more proactive stance with the US regarding the JCPOA earlier this year, while the Americans want to impose their sanctions sooner and greater than before but recently the government has been trying to decide which response to show.”

Referring to some of the statesmen who were happy about the results of the JCPOA, the senior Iranian cleric said, “The new US sanctions have shown some government officials had place all of their hopes in the JCPOA and that which they promoted regarding the JCPOA was wishful thinking and that the prospects which appeared as a result of the JCPOA are nothing more than a mirage.”

Ayatollah Ka’bi said, “It’s natural that the government is subject to a tough test since the new US sanctions against Iran have failed. However, the whole country and the government has reached a national consensus to combat the widespread US sanctions plan and the government must respond.”

The representative of the people of Khuzestan in the Assembly of Experts noted, “We must prevent further harm the Iranian people due to the JCPOA. Therefore, the Supervisory Board of the JCPOA and the supreme supervisory bodies of the country must intervene and the parliament should make demands.”

“The people must oppose the US-imposed sanctions at a non-government level and must strengthen the whole system and all must resist in the face of the US’ hostile actions, especially government officials, but the government must respond to the creation of wishful thoughts regarding the JCPOA,” he added.
