RNA – Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Days of Dignity at the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah in Qom, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Ebrahim Raesi pointed out that in the terminology of the Quran, narrations, culture and religion, dignity is a comprehensive concept.

“In religious principles, this concept is so comprehensive that based on the principles of thaqalayn [the tradition of the two weighty things], this dignity is considered as the axis of the philosophy of the mission of the Prophet of Islam,” he said.

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Ridha in Mashhad referred to all creatures in the world, saying that humankind has dignity and said, “God Almighty has stated that dignity is inherent in human beings. On this basis God Almighty states in verse 70 of the Surah al-Isra: ‘Certainly We have honoured the Children of Adam, and carried them over land and sea, and provided them with all the good things, and preferred them with a complete preference over many of those We have created.’”

He said that the wisdom and human nature are the context of the truth of human dignity and added that inherent dignity belongs to all human beings while the definition of the religion of Islam in regard to the reality of dignity is that it has an acquired identity.

Hujjat al-Islam Raesi continued, “Acquired dignity can be described as that which human beings must find in the light of the revelation of the belief of truth, dignified ethics, healthy knowledge and righteous deeds to the extent that man must strive in the light of the dignified apostles and imams to develop himself on the path of becoming human until the  dignification of humankind becomes the true meaning of dignity in expressing the concepts of thaqalayn.”

The representative of South Khorasan province in the Assembly of Experts described social justice as the foundation of Islamic utopianism, and stated, “The city of the dignified is a city which underlies the truth of monotheism. Accordingly, the monotheistic view of the universe is the first step for the seeker of life.”

He noted that the false claim of human rights that is found in the universal identity of the media of the world is far from the truth of unselfishness.

Hujjat al-Islam Raeisi said if  man wants to reach the summit of monotheism, he will achieve the truth of dignity and said, “Forgiveness is the front of dignity, while the truth of dignity in the greatness of the soul will find its true meaning.”

He added, “The martyrs have understood the truth of dignity because dignity is a status that must be achieved so that the believer will achieve the status of martyrdom. On this basis, if someone doesn’t have dignity, martyrdom won’t be his fate.”

The member of the Assembly of Experts argued that the mutual interactions between the state and the nation should be based on dignity, stated, “All events in an Islamic society should be maintained with dignity. Therefore, the Islamic system in Iran is the only flagbearer of human dignity in the present era.”

“Our whole problem with the hegemonic system is, in fact, the Islamic system in Iran is the protector and the flagbearer of dignity in the world. On this basis, we believe that in Bahrain we must not oppress people who want justice and freedom. In Palestine, the people must make their own decisions regarding their government and we believe that the Yemeni people themselves should elect their own government because human dignity has taught us this truth.

Hujjat al-Islam Raeisi said the truth of the political philosophy of Israel and the United States is a distortion of human dignity and said, “If the world becomes acquainted with the truth of dignity, it will abide by its identity and its laws and on this basis, we believe that the lost dignity of today’s life is human dignity.”
