RNA - Speaking at a ceremony in the southern Lebanese village of al-Sultaniyah, Hujjat al-Islam Nabil Qawouq, the vice-president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, said, “Lebanon is facing an exceptional opportunity to eradicate Takfiris terrorism in Jaroud Arsal, especially since most of the Lebanese people support the expedition of the liberation of this area from the Takfiri terrorists.”

The Lebanese cleric added that with the help of the army and the Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah], Lebanon will be able to launch a new national achievement against the danger posed by the Takfiris in support of the country’s territory, sovereignty and munificence, Lebanon will support against the aggressions of the al-Nusrah Front and Daesh.”

Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq stated, “The occupation of some of Lebanon’s territory by these terrorist groups is a threat to the sovereignty, freedom and dignity of the country and a continuing and real threat to all citizens.”

He noted that any Lebanese person who didn’t feel endangered by the al-Nusrah Front and Daesh are suffering from illusion and ignorance because these two groups are a threat to all Lebanese people without exception.

Regarding the current Syrian refugee crisis, His Eminence said, “This is one of the great crises in the country and a humanitarian crisis that should not be overlooked at all. The Syrian refugee crisis is choking Lebanon and is putting pressure on the security and stability, economy and livelihood of the citizens of Lebanese and the government must give immediate consideration to solving this problem.”

Referring to the fact that due to the Saudi refusal to cooperate with the Syrian government on the return of the almost two million Syrian refugees living in Lebanon, Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq said, “The government should quickly resolve this crisis and provide the grounds for the voluntary return of refugees to Syria or other countries because this crisis has put a lot of pressure on the citizens and the Lebanese government must interact with the Syrian government on the basis of national interests, not based on Saudi orders.”

While all political groups mention the presence of nearly two million Syrians in Lebanon as one of the country’s problems, some political groups which opposed the government of Bashar al-Asad are preventing them from returning to their country.

These groups, which are allies of Saudi Arabia, see the return of the displaced Syrian refugees to as a guarantee of security in Syria and a sign of success for the government of Bashar al-Asad.
