RNA – Speaking at a gathering of commanders and heads of Basij forces at the Velayat Cultural and Educational Complex in Qom, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi said that the Basij are at the forefront of the defence of the values and ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
The member of the Assembly of Experts for Iran’s Khuzestan province stressed on the need to continue the path of the late Imam Khomeyni, the martyrs and the Supreme Leader of the Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] and to strengthen the soft power of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The soft power that has been formed on the axis of faith, piety and insight and the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran has become a regional power,” he said.
He argued that through their strategic plans, the imperialist powers and Zionists are trying to undermine the soft power of Iran’s holy system, saying, “The duty of the Basij bases in the centre of the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to protect the country and the soft power of Iran is based on the axis of faith, piety and insight.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi said, “There are three types of war – hard war, semi-hard and soft war. Hard war is a military battle which, due to the blessings of Imam Khomeyni and the martyrs and the guidance and support of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to the armed forces and commander-in-chief, hard power is generated and the enemies in the region and even globally, don’t have the ability to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran and therefore the power of this sacred system is guaranteed.”
The faculty member of Imam Khomeyni Educational and Research Institute compared the military capabilities of Iran at the beginning of the Revolution and the power it has enjoyed in recent years, saying, “In the early years of the Islamic Revolution, and even after the end of the Iran-Iraq War, Iran didn’t have great military capabilities but today the ballistic missiles of the Islamic Republic have shaken the palaces of oppression of the imperialist powers. These military capabilities have protected the security of the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He continued, “When the Americans seriously threatened Iran with war, at the same time we predicted in a simple strategy that these threats were false. Today, the with its land, air, outer space and sea, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made remarkable progress and clearly, the enemies threats are weak.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi noted that the United States sent 150,000 troops to defeat Iraq and would need 1.5 million ground troops to launch a comprehensive attack on Iran and overthrow the regime and this isn’t possible and said, “Therefore, a military attack on the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran will never be considered by the enemies.”
The representative of the people of Khuzestan in the Assembly of Experts emphasized: “Given the important issue that the enemies of Iran don’t have the illusion of a military strike, direct conflict and war in mind, the question is whether through proxy wars, such as the Imposed War [Iran-Iraq War], which was imposed on Iran by the orders of the masters of Saddam, can they inflict damage on the system?”
He explained the answer to the question and said, “The US, the Soviet Union and many other countries in the world prepared for Iraq and it was thought that they could occupy Iran in a week but the Iranian people resisted for eight years and destroyed the project of the imperialist powers.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi added, “Today, they have provoked the Al Saud against us and are pursuing a proxy war, which is on the agenda of the enemies, but the wisdom, tact and deception of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the authority of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran have caused the enemies to only exaggerate war and not take such a path.”
