Rasa – Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani called the anniversary of the destruction of the mausoleums of the Imams in Madinah’s Jannat al-Baqi’ cemetery as a day of mourning for all Muslims.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani

RNA – On the 92nd anniversary of the destruction of Madinah’s Jannat al-Baqi’ Cemetery, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani issued a statement condemning the destruction of the cemetery where four imams, Lady Fatimah al-Zahra and numerous other personalities from the early Islamic period are buried by the “irrational and tribal” Saudi regime.

The mausoleums of Jannat al-Baqi’ were destroyed for the second time on Shawwal 8, 1345 AH (April 21, 1925) by Wahhabis and the House of Saud who believed that visiting the graves and the shrines of the Prophets, the Imams or the saints was a form of idolatry and totally un-Islamic.

Since then, the 8th of Shawwal has been a day of mourning for all Muslims.

The text of Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani’s message is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

“Peace be upon you, Oh People of the House of the Prophet [Muhammad]”

The moon of Shawwal, the anniversary of the destruction of the mausoleums of four of the imams in the Jannat al-Baqi’ Cemetery by the irrational and tribal regime of the Saud family, has an affect on the hearts of the believers and this day is considered a day of mourning in the Islamic world.

But the enemies of pure Islam must know that these unknown graves are an immense sign of legitimacy and the light of guidance for the seekers of truth and no group or tribe can destroy the light of faith and the path of truth with their ignorance.

“… And the wrongdoers will soon know at what goal they will end up” [Quran 26:227]

Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani
