Rasa – The chairman of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq condemned the Friday’s suicide bombing in Makkah and the failed plan to attack the Grand Mosque.

RNA – At a meeting with the leaders of the Suraya Ashura Battalion, which is part of the Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the chairman of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, condemned the suicide bombing near the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the failed plan to attack the holiest site in Islam and added, “Terrorism and extremism have crossed all borders and have violated all sacredness.”


The renowned Iraqi scholar emphasized the necessity of joint actions to eradicate terrorism, saying, “The world must take all necessary measures to eradicate the terrorist phenomenon.”


Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim expressed regret at the Arab countries’ abandonment of their support of Palestine, saying, “Conflict between the Arab and Islamic countries only benefits the Zionist regime.”


He added that all the capabilities and abilities of the Arab and Islamic countries are spent on internal disputes and that the opportunities and resources of the region are wasted in this manner.


Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim called for attention to be given to the families of the martyrs, the wounded and to the Popular Mobilization Forces.


His Eminence also praised the “good reputation enjoyed by the Suraya Ashura Battalion” and in this regard added, “The officials of the Suraya Ashura Battalion should continue their military and religious training with greater power.”


On June 23rd, a member of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group detonated himself in the Ajyad al-Masafi neighbourhood, located near Makkah’s Grand Mosque. 


The terrorist, along with several other terrorists, was besieged by the Saudi security forces in a three-storey house, and during the clash with these forces he blew up his explosive belt.


The suicide attacker was killed, while the blast wounded 11, including six foreigners and five members of security forces, according to the Saudi interior ministry.
