RNA - “With great concern, we follow the news on the terrorist attacks in Tehran that left many innocent people martyred and wounded; I condole and extend my sympathy to the Leader of Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation and government, and condemn such criminal acts by extremists and terrorists,” al-Hakim’s message reads.

Hakim underlined the need for taking practical and serious measures to confront extremism and dry up its financial and intellectual resources, and said, “Once again, we urge the regional countries to organize a meeting to draw up a regional security strategy to fight terrorism and save the world from the scourge and wickedness."

In relevant remarks in late May, al-Hakim lauded Iran's support for his country in the ongoing fight against the ISIL terrorist group.

"Iran has helped the Iraqi government to a large extent in the fight against the terrorists groups," al-Hakim, also head of the National Iraqi Alliance (NIA), said.

The head of Iraq's ISCI reiterated that Iraq enjoys cordial, deep and strategic relations with Iran.

Al-Hakim, meantime, urged the Iraqi groups to prepare for countering challenges they will face after uprooting the ISIL terrorist group.
