Rasa - Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar al-Hakim said holding talks between Iran and its neighboring countries is of great importance.

RNA - "Iraq enjoys close ties with Iran and Iran is also interested in holding talks with neighbors on bilateral relations," al-Hakim said on Tuesday.

 

The head of Iraq's ISCI, meantime, pointed to Iraq's ongoing fight against the ISIL terrorist group, and said, "Iraqi people are trying their best to uproot the terrorist groups."

 

In relevant remarks in late May, al-Hakim lauded Iran's support for his country in the ongoing fight against the ISIL terrorist group.

 

"Iran has helped the Iraqi government to a large extent in the fight against the terrorists groups," al-Hakim, also head of the National Iraqi Alliance (NIA), said.

 

The head of Iraq's ISCI reiterated that Iraq enjoys cordial, deep and strategic relations with Iran.

 

Al-Hakim, meantime, urged the Iraqi groups to prepare for countering challenges they will face after uprooting the ISIL terrorist group.
