RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi city of Najaf’s al-Fatimiyah al-Kubra Husayniyah, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Sadruddin al-Qubanchi referred to the operation to liberate western Mosul from Daesh Takfiri forces and said, “The Popular Mobilization Forces have prevented the escape of Daesh forces and guard the Iraqi border and not allow them to enter Syrian territory.”
The Iraqi cleric referred to last week’s terrorist attacks in Baghdad and said, “The terrorists don’t have the ability to fight against the Iraqi fighters and for this same reason, they have turned to revenge against the people.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi stressed upon the holding of elections in due course and added, “Due to the various problems in Iraq, this country has witnessed a major political movement. Reforms in Iraq should be accomplished according to law and public opinion.”
He noted the increasing conflicts between the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and the central government are not beneficial to anyone and added, “Without Iraq, the Kurdistan Region doesn’t have the ability to live so the problems must be resolved with respect for the constitution.”
Referring to the anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeyni, the founder of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi said, “Imam Khomeyni had features such as knowledge, jurisprudence, piety, wisdom, patient leadership and all good characteristics.”
His Eminence continued, “Imam Khomeyni didn’t overthrow the Shah’s regime alone but rather the Islamic Republic was established in its true meaning.”
He said Imam Khomeyni considered the current period as the period of the people, the decline of the rule of tyrants, the destruction of worldly governments and a return to spirituality.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi said that just as we commemorate the passing of Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, the leader of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, he said, “This scholar was a combination of politics and the seminary, courage and moderation and martyrdom and wisdom. The Islamic Seminary and Shi’ism must honour such a person.”
