RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers at Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi referred to Iran’s May 19th presidential and city and village council elections and congratulated the “choice of the nation,” Hasan Rouhani, on his win and stated, “We’re hopeful that those who won act on their promises and abide by their religious duties to this dedicated and loyal nation.”

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, considered the principle victors in the elections as the people and added, “We the people state that the victory in the elections was due to the wisdom of the Supreme Leader. The request of the Supreme Leader was that of the majority of the people participate in the election and 38 years after of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, there was a high turnout and the people participated with the utmost dignity and security.”

He said some minor and general incidents which caused suffering for the people, noting, “During the debates, the specific rules and standards set forth were not observed and discussions from these debates were exploited by the enemies. Such individuals where those whom the system had confirmed and such issues should not have been mentioned during the debates.”

Ayatollah Sa’idi added that the aim of the debates was for the candidates to explain their plans and strategies but sometimes the “train” of the debates left its tracks and said, “Alongside thanking the national media, we suggest that for such important debates, a moderator is also present so that candidates aren’t allowed don’t speak outside the red lines.”

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah stated that certain individuals shouldn’t humiliate the consciousness of the people and added, “Saying that we were victorious through violence and war is wrong because this is a one-sided view which mocks the nation.”

The senior scholar continued, “Why are those who did not vote for you introduced as violent? Also, introducing who voted for another candidate as ‘obscene’ is wrong. None of these words are acceptable and our people will not tolerate such insults. We hope that all people will unite with one another to build the country. The loyal people should disappoint the enemies with encouraging programs.”

Referring to the signing of the “Education 2030 Framework for Action” by the Iranian government, Ayatollah Sa’idi stated that the statements of the Supreme Leader must be the final word and the sources of emulation have also explained this issue and a logical response must be given to this issue.

“God-willing, Iran will be spared from intellectual and cultural discord of the colonialists,” he said.

Qom’s Friday prayer leader pointed to the ominous consequences of US President Donald Trump’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia and said, “[Trump’s] trip to the region had three goals – Iranophobia, filling their own pockets and empting Saudi Arabia’s pockets and strengthening and supporting the Zionist regime.”

Ayatollah Sa’idi said one of the miserable effects of Trump’s trip to the region was his entanglement in the issue of the oppressed Shi’ahs of Bahrain and said, “The agents of the Al Khalifah, along with the cooperation of the Al Saud, attacked the people and the house of Ayatollah Isa Qasim who seeks the basic rights for the people.”

He also condemned the cowardly attack by Saudi forces against the Shi’ahs of Awamiyyah and stressed that “Due to God’s promise, we have certainty that the people will be victorious.”
