RNA – Speaking during a meeting with a group of Pakistani Sufi scholars in Qom, Ayatollah Najmoddin Tabasi stressed the need to increase meetings between religious scholars, saying, “The increase of meetings between members of various denominations because of the belief in one God, prophet and the Quran is of great importance.”

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom added that the differences between the various Islamic denominations must not lead to violence and the use of weapons because all Muslims are brothers of each other.

“If differences result in the use of weapons, all the parties involved will suffer losses and the weakness of the Muslim ummah has led to the influence of various evils and the dominance of the enemies over various denominations, including Sunni and Shi’ahs,” he said.

Ayatollah Tabasi said that under the pretext of tobacco, the United Kingdom sought to occupy Iran but with the issuing December 1891 fatwa against tobacco use by Grand Ayatollah Mirza Hasan Shirazi, they suffered a heavy defeat and in the course of his son’s murder, they sought to compensate for their defeat and the tact and intelligence of this great Shi’ah scholar led to the failure of their policy of divide and rule.

His Eminence added, “By weakening Muslim countries, the enemies seek to plunder their national wealth and resources such as oil, gold and culture and they know well to what extent they are poor in terms of material and cultural resources.”

The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said if Muslims were united, the enemies wouldn’t dare to steal even a matchstick and if they were divided, it would have come to the point where the Saudi company, Aramco, would have plundered the country’s oil for 100 years.

Ayatollah Tabasi said the enemies consider Islam as having political and specific objectives and stated, “The enemies seek to divide and reduce the size of Islamic countries, such as Syria and Iraq, into smaller countries, such as Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and in regard to this the countries of the European Union are the opposite of these countries in terms of geography, economics and politics.”

The Iranian cleric said, “The enemies have given terrorist groups like Daesh and the al-Nusrah Front the latest weapons. But the important question is whether the terrorists have even fired a single shot against the Zionists?”
