RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad-Mahdi Gorjian noted the importance of the election of the most suitable candidate in Iran’s May 19th presidential elections, saying, “The discussion of making a correct choice in the election of the administrator of society is noted in the narrations of the Ahlul-Bayt and is also mentioned many times in the speeches of both Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Khamenei] and this issue must be given due consideration.”

The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom added that the person who wants to take the helm of the management of the executive branch of the Islamic system of government must be religious and cognizant and noted, “Cognition is a very important and key characteristic because someone who doesn’t know what is going on around him and doesn’t recognize the enemies with precision, may perceive the enemies as allies and admit them into his house.”

Hujjat al-Islam Gorjian added that courage is another important feature of the most suitable candidate and noted that such a person must not be intimidated by the enemies.

The deputy of research at Qom’s Baqir al-Uloum University added that several years ago, American Navy forces and ships came in the Persian Gulf and some cowered in fear but the Leader went on the deck of an Iranian ship in the Gulf and when the enemy realized the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the Persian Gulf, they gathered their equipment and returned their forces to their home ports.

He noted that humility towards the other candidates is another characteristic of a suitable candidate and said, “A suitable candidate should conduct himself with humility towards the people but unfortunately some individuals are inherently arrogant and God has vowed that the arrogant will be disgraced.”

“Since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, we have seen that God has revealed the arrogance of such individuals,” he added.

Hujjat al-Islam Gorjian said, “When some people vote, they consider themselves as masters over the people but this is while the administrator of the Islamic system must be humble before the people.”

His Eminence said that trust in God instead of trusting in the enemies is another characteristic of the most suitable presidential candidate and added, “Unfortunately, it has been seen that some people don’t trust in God and are fascinated by the smile of the enemies and the fear which exists in their hearts has made them cower in front of the enemies.”

Hujjat al-Islam Gorjian added that belief in resurrection after death is another characteristic of the most suitable candidate and if one doesn’t believe in the resurrection and doesn’t believe that God dominates over all that exists, he will always turn his back to the people and turn towards the enemies and will also turn his back toward the divine laws.

The teacher of philosophy and theology in Qom’s al-Mustafa International University added that the president should be clean-handed and honest and not be satisfied with the looting and luxury of those around him and also must be sensitive over the use of public funds.

In conclusion, Hujjat al-Islam Gorjian said, “Recognizing the poor, assisting the deprived and having modesty are the other features of the most suitable candidate and we must know that the person who wears a watch worth thousands of dollars cannot fathom the pain faced by the poor and cannot resolve the problems of the deprived.”
