RNA – In a meeting with the commander of the Ali ibn Abi Talib Brigades of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the commander of Brigade 83 Imam al-Sadiq and a number of members of the IRGC, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani congratulated the believers on the birth anniversary of Imam Husayn and said, “In the Holy Quran, two movements to protect and preserve Islam have been emphasized.”
The revered source of emulation added that one movement is for recognition of religion and another is the jihad for the dignity and greatness of Islam. In Islam, jihad and the consideration of the culture of sacrifice and jihad are very important.
“The warriors must know that wherever they strike a blow against the enemies, God Almighty considers it a good deed for them,” he said.
Referring to the struggle of the martyrs and veterans in the eight-year long Iran-Iraq, he said, “During the eight-year-long Sacred Defence, the warriors of the Islamic Revolution created an epic with ardour and ambition and defeated the enemies.”
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani continued, “With religious fervour, man must create an epic and advance the goals of the religion of God. Man must always stand up against the enemies and engage in jihad. We must not sit back and let the enemies to be daring and unafraid but rather we must also respond to the enemies by strengthening the culture of jihad.”
He said that a humiliating life for mankind is similar to death and said, “If a man dies in an uprising and in jihad, in reality, he is living. The school of Ashura and the slogan of ‘hayhat minna dhillah” [a saying from Imam Husayn which means “disgrace is far away from us”] should always be alive and it should be noted that the Master of the Martyrs [Imam Husayn] is a character-building school which lead to the happiness of mankind.”
The Iranian cleric said the armed forces must comprehend the epic of Imam Husayn and seek to protect and maintain this thought and culture. Imam Khomeini said that ‘we will break the hand of those who attack Islamic countries and will end the domination of the arrogant powers.’
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani noted that in order to achieve this important goal and to prevent the domination of the arrogant and domineering powers, Islam must develop and spread through the world. “With this aim, Imam Khomeini came to the battlefield and we must pursue this goal and never get tired of continuing this path,” he said.
He referred to the speech made on Sunday by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, to a group of workers in Tehran said, “[The Leader] said, ‘Sometimes we hear and have heard in the past that certain individuals say, ‘when we came along and assumed responsibility, we managed to take away the shadow of war over the country’ and responded, ‘No. These statements are not right. It is the presence, ambition, ardour and faith of the people that has removed the shadow of war, and not the authorities.’”
