RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf’s al-Fatimiyah al-Kubra Husayniyah, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Sadruddin al-Qubanchi reacted to the recent remarks made by Masoud Barzani, the president of Iraqi Kurdistan in regard to the independence of this region and said, “The independence of Iraqi Kurdistan is not possible and position of this territory is only within Iraq.”
The Iraqi scholar said that separating Kurdistan from Iraq is not in the favour of this territory and this issue should only be discussed in Baghdad.
He described the liberation of occupied Iraqi territories from the clutches of Takfiri terrorists as “close” and said that Iraqi fighters had made impressive victories in the fight against the Daesh.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi also strongly reacted to the recent statements made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in which he described the Popular Mobilization Forces as a “terrorist group” and said, “The attribution of the Popular Mobilization Forces to the terrorist phenomenon reflects their success.”
His Eminence said that the remarks made by Erdoğan are against the practice of diplomacy and described the unity between the military and the Popular Mobilization Forces, saying, “Through their fight against Daesh, Shi’ahs have been able to cripple this terrorist phenomenon.”
In regard to the relationship between Iraq and the Arab countries, he stressed, “Iraq is willing to cooperate and communicate with Islamic and Arab countries and the trip of Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, to Egypt showed a new flexibility in the country. The trip by Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim has many positive effects.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi referred to the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and said, “The presence of millions of Iraqi people on the occasion of the martyrdom of Imam al-Kadhim represents the greatness of the Imam and the people.”
He also offered his congratulations on the beginning of the mission the Prophet Muhammad and said, “The beginning of the mission of the Prophet Muhammad is one of the best and greatest days of God. On such a day, pilgrimage to the grave of the Holy Prophet, Imam Ali, fasting and prayer have great merit.”
