RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Seyyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri referred to the anniversary of the United States’ humiliating defeat in Operation Eagle Claw in Tabas on April 24, 1980 and added, “We received a lot of divine assistance but we’re not grateful. We’re hopeful in the light of divine grace that the Islamic Revolution will remain persistent and consistent.”

The representative of the people of Bushehr in the Assembly of Experts referred to Iran’s May 19th presidential and parliamentary elections and said the elections are a symbol of the honour of Iran’s Islamic system of government, national will, political epic, religious democracy and are the manifestation of national power.

“All officials are required at this juncture to act so that the elections are held on the balance of the Islamic system and in a joyful, healthy, law-abiding, powerful and passionate manner,” he said.

Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri pointed out the blessings of elections and said the elections lead to the revitalization of society, provide for the role of the people alongside the Islamization of the system and are are an opportunity to recognize the dangers facing the country.

Referring to the 1,600 hopefuls who registered to run for president, he continued, “Unfortunately, we still have witnessed violations of the law and the flood of registrants is a serious problem for the country. What criteria do six-year old children have to register? This is a worrying trend and we hope that the parliament and the Guardian Council begin their work without delay after the election.”

The Iranian cleric said the immorality, destruction, slander and lies must not be the current rate in the election campagain and said, “Every time elections are held, some individuals engage in immoral and destructive actions. Are Islamic commandments suspended during an election period? Through sinning we cannot make any achievements and thus, ethics must be observed by all.”

“Wherever we suffer, it’s due to the lack of compliance with these issues and wherever we advance, it’s due to these compassionate people and their acts of service. We hope that on May 19, we’ll witness the widespread presence of the people and have the best election,” he said.
