RNA – In a message to mark the anniversary of the April 18th, 1996 Qana massacre, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Yasin, the head of the Association of Scholars of Tire in Lebanon, said that this tragedy which was carried out by the Zionist enemies, is being repeated today by the partners in the American-Zionist project – the Takfiri groups.

“These groups have failed to create fear among the Islamic Resistance Forces [Hezbollah] because the Resistance Forces have created certainty in the region and stand against the plots of the arrogant powers,” he said.

The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric said, “The silence of the international community in regard to the crimes committed by the Zionist enemies in Palestine and also in regard to the terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq is deplorable.”

Hujjat al-Islam Yasin emphasized that the blood of the people will prevail over the weapons of the United States and Israel and added that Lebanese authorities must include the 1996 victory over the Zionists in the history books so that future generations become well-versed with this victory and know that the security and stability which we enjoy are the result of the efforts of the army, people and Resistance.

He noted that the Zionist regime continues its arrogance against international organizations but the Islamic Resistance power is standing against the enemies.

His Eminence commemorated the Palestinian Prisoners’ Day and said, “Those Palestinians imprisoned in the prisons of the Zionist occupiers have made the occupiers desperate and helpless because of their strong will. The hunger strike is a stain on the forehead of the people of the world and will lead to the failure of the Zionist-American project.”

On April 18, 1996, Israel Defense Forces fired artillery shells at a United Nations compound near Qana, a village in Southern Lebanon, where 800 Lebanese civilians, including a number of women, children and innocent people had taken shelter.

The people of Qana feared the bombing of their village by the Zionists and sought refuge in the UN compound stationed near their village but the compound came under attack by the brutal Zionist forces and as a result, 106 were killed and around 116 injured.
