RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Abdullah al-Daqqaq referred to the revocation of his citizenship and that of two other activists by the tiny Persian Gulf monarchy’s Al Khalifah regime and said, “Through my younger brother, I heard that the Al Khalifah regime sent a summons to my house in Bahrain but the aim of the tribunal was not clear to me at the time.”

A Bahraini court also sentenced Hujjat al-Islam al-Daqqaq to 10 years in jail and gave 15-year and 10-year prison terms to Shakir Hani Ali Salman and Abdul-Amir al-Aradi, respectively.

The representative of Ayatollah Isa Qasim in Iran said, “After a while I realized that one of my friends, Hani Shakir, had been arrested by security agents and imprisoned under severe torture and made confessions. I didn’t know until last Thursday that I had been sentenced to ten years in prison and my citizenship was revoked. Hani was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, his citizenship was revoked and was sentenced to pay a 100,000 dinars [$265,500].”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Daqqaq said: “Until now, I neither have information about the content nor the reason for why these charges were issued and I don’t yet know the details of the charges."

The Bahraini scholar referred to the objectives and reasons for the issuing of the decree revoking his Bahraini citizenship, saying, “I have long awaited this decree because the policies of the Al Khalifah regime have always been based on killing, imprisonment and the deprivation of the people’s rights of citizenship. I was sure that if I defend Ayatollah Isa Qasim, my citizenship would be revoked of my citizenship and today, this has been realized.”

The Bahraini revolutionary cleric explained that before the trial of Ayatollah Qasim, I met with several sources of emulation in Qom, including Ayatollahs Abdollah Javadi-Amoli and Sayyed Kazem Husayni-Haeri, who issued fatwas in regard to the religious duty of defending Ayatollah Qasim. We are also released written and video content in regard to these meetings.

“The cry of the people of Bahrain against the Al Khalifah regime has led to and eventually forced the regime to postpone the trial of Ayatollah Qasim,” he said.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Daqqaq said this impact of this act was unpleasant for the Al Khalifah regime and this led them to issue a sentence revoking my citizenship as a kind of response to my positions.

“The Al Khalifah know that their stupid actions have forced us to defend Ayatollah Qasim and the oppressed people of Bahrain more and more until all our legitimate demands are met,” he said.

He explained that one of the main weapons of the Al Khalifah regime was the revoking the citizenship of the people and supporters of Shaykh Qasim and added that the king, Hamad ibn Isa, has issued direct warrants against numerous citizens and military courts have issued arrest warrants against mothers and fathers of martyrs.
