RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf’s al-Fatimiyah al-Kubra Husayniyah, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Sadruddin al-Qubanchi appreciated and thanked Iraq’s armed forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces for their valuable sacrifices and victories in the operation to liberate the territories occupied by the Daesh Takfiri terrorist phenomenon in northern Iraq and said, “Over the past few days, Iraqi fighters liberated the town of Badoush and the train station and village of al-Sabounah in western Nineveh Governorate from the clutches of Daesh.”
The Iraqi scholar said the recent Arab League summit held in the Jordanian of Amman was held with the support of Iraq and added that its emphasis on the fight against Daesh is an important achievement.
“This position taken by Arab countries is the result of patience and the presence of the people of Iraq on the forefront of the fight against terrorism,” he noted.
In another part of his Friday prayer sermon, Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi referred to the virtues of the holy month of Rajab and said, “Many people and pilgrims have travelled to the city of Samarra to celebrate the martyrdom of the tenth Imam, Ali al-Hadi. For this reason, the security forces must be cautious and have a plan protect the pilgrims.”
His Eminence also honoured the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Muhammad-Baqir al-Hakim, a senior Iraqi Shi’ cleric and the leader of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq, who was assassinated in a bomb attack in Najaf in 2003.
He said, “This Iraqi scholar carried out many activities to spread freedom, religious initiatives and charitable efforts in this country.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi stressed that Ayatollah al-Hakim laid the groundwork for the overthrow of former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Husayn, and changed the perspective of the people of the world in regard to Iraq.”
