RNA – In an interview with the media, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Gharavi congratulated the Iranian people on the beginning of the Iranian new year of 1396, which the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, designated as “Year of the Resistance Economy: Production and Employment,” and said, “An economy which isn’t affected by external variables, such as oil, and relies on domestic production and employment is a resistance economy.”

The member of the Supreme Council of the Seminaries stated that growth in domestic production lays the groundwork for increasing employment and reducing unemployment and said, “The growth in domestic production depends on the cooperation between the country’s three branches of power in the country to create laws facilitating investment, providing financial facilities and fighting against trafficking in order to strengthen the economy.”

He added the assistance of the authorities to facilitate the supply of raw materials, equipment and factories can be a precursor to the strengthening of domestic production.

Ayatollah Gharavi further stressed the need to strengthen the quality of locally-produced goods, saying, “If domestic production flourishes and quality products are delivered, this is will be welcomed by domestic and foreign consumers.”

He stressed that domestic goods must be produced in accordance with international standards and stated, “Unfortunately, many poor-quality and unsuitable domestic products have been approved by the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran.”

The member of the Association of Seminary Teachers of Qom said national standards must be given their due attention and not only should the basic quality of a product be carefully evaluated but rather as long as a product is produced, strong supervision must be given so that the quality of the product isn’t reduced and so that the credibility of domestic production in the country and abroad isn’t questioned.

Ayatollah Gharavi added that some companies, after obtaining a certificate demonstrating that they’ve reached the appropriate standards in manufacturing and advertising, have reduced the quality of their products.

He added that some of the low-quality goods in the internal market has led to people not wanting to buy Iranian goods and added that the low quality of some domestic products has led to people looking for foreign products and this issue cannot be solved through propaganda because people expect high-quality products to be produced.

The Iranian cleric said that if Iran continues to manufacture law-quality goods, they won’t be welcomed within the country nor can they be exported and in this case, we will witness a great defeat in regard to the export of Iranian-produced goods.

Ayatollah Gharavi also criticized the poor quality of domestically-produced vehicles and offer excuses which undermine public confidence and added, “With the low-quality of domestically-produced vehicles, in addition to the life-threatening dangers which threaten which passengers and drivers, those with financial ability aren’t willing to purchase Iranian-produced vehicles or choose better parts and this compromises the country’s economy. Officials usually give little attention to these issues.”
