RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi city of Najaf’s al-Fatimiyah al-Kubra Husayniyah, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Sadruddin al-Qubanchi offered his congratulations on the birth anniversary of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra and added, “The birth anniversary of his ‘Lady of Dignity’ is the best day to honour women.”
The Iraqi scholar referred to the operation to liberate Nineveh Governorate and the city of Mosul and said, “So far, Iraqi fighters have liberated more than 85% of the land occupied by Daesh has and now, the warriors are preparing to liberate the remaining areas these Takfiri terrorists, including the village of Shaykh Mohammad, the train station, oil installations and the village of Badoush.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi added that after suffering heavy defeats in Iraq, Daesh seeks to transfer their capital of their self-proclaimed state to the Syrian city of Dayr al-Zawr.
He said that Saudi Arabia’s sending of humanitarian aid for refugees in Nineveh Governorate doesn’t signify this country’s change of approach toward Iraq and said, “If Saudi Arabia seriously seeks to revise its relations with Iraq, the country will open its doors to the entire Arab world.”
His Eminence added that the trip of Ahmad Abul-Ghayt, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, to Baghdad, indicates Iraq’s willingness to play a constructive role in the affairs of the Arab world.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Qubanchi condemned the terrorist attack on a group of Iraqi pilgrims in Damascus, Syria last Saturday which killed at least 74 people and injuring scores of others.
He said, “The martyrdom of these pilgrims near the Holy Shrine of Lady Zaynab is a source of honour and dignity for the Iraqi people.”
Referring to the anniversary of the chemical attack on Halabjah by the former Ba’athist regime, he said that this crime was a brutal act and God Almighty will certainly take the worst possible revenge against Saddam Husayn for it.
The chemical attack against the people of the predominantly Kurdish town of Halabjah occurred on March 16, 1988. This bombardment was part of an extensive operation called the al-Anfal Campaign against the inhabitants of the Kurdish regions of Iraq.
In the wake of Operation Val-Fajr 10 by Iran and the seizure of parts of Iraqi Kurdistan by Iranian forces in early 1988, which was welcomed by the people of this region, Saddam’s cousin Ali Hasan al-Majid, known as Chemical Ali, ordered the gassing of these areas.
Following the attack, about 5,000 civilians in Halabjah were killed immediately and a further 7,000 people were injured or suffered long term illness.
