RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi city of Karbala’s Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ahmad al-Safi referred to the series of terrorist attacks over the past two days on different places throughout the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and said, “Officials and politicians have to act in regard their responsibility to protect the people, care for the rights of citizens and maintain security in the country.”

On February 16th, a car bomb exploded in the predominately Shi’ah Bayaa district of southern Baghdad, killing over 50 people and injuring 49 others.

The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack which targeted a busy car market.

The representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Karbala offered his condolences to the families of the martyrs, whom the enemies cruelly massacred and wrongfully spilled their pure blood due to their hatred and animosity.

“We pray to God Almighty to grant the oppressed mercy, forgiveness and fortitude and grant the injured a speedy recovery,” he stated.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Safi referred to verse 36 of Surah al-Qasas which says: “When Moses brought them Our manifest signs, they said, ‘This is nothing but concocted magic. We never heard of such a thing among our forefathers” and said, “Quranic stories are not for the purposes of entertainment but rather we must take lessons from them. In the story of the Prophet Moses and Pharaoh, God Almighty explains that truth stands against oppression.”

The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Hadhrat Abbas added that those who believe in the Day of Judgement never personally engage in oppression against others and like Moses, they defend the truth against oppression.

Hujjat al-Islam al-Safi said that oppression prevents the spread of truth and justice and the oppressed and poor await divine mercy.
