RNA – Speaking at Hamadan’s Imam Khomeini Mosque on the fortieth day after the death of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, the chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council, Hujjat al-Islam Masih Mohajer, the manager of the Jomhouri Eslami [Islamic Republic] newspaper, said that Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani journeyed to a free life and gained freedom from this material world.
Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani passed away on January 8 at the age of 82 due to a heart condition.
Hujjat al-Islam Mohajer said that during the reign of the tyrant Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani was repeatedly imprisoned and sentenced to death but this sentence was withdrawn due to intervention from the sources of emulation.
He explained that when the late Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani was arrested and imprisoned by the Shah’s brutal secret police force, SAVAK, without basic amenities, he was able to write notes from the Holy Quran and when he met his wife, he gave these notes to his wife and afterwards these noted were compiled into an exegesis of the Holy Quran.
His Eminence said that Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani was imprisoned for nearly five years and during this period he wrote more than 21 volumes of his exegesis of the Holy Quran and 34 volumes on the culture of the Holy Quran.
Hujjat al-Islam Mohajer explained that throughout his youth, Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani engaged in defending the values of Islam and the Islamic Revolution and spent a period of 38 years purely in service to the people.
The manager of the Jomhouri Eslami newspaper added that through his wise diplomacy during the Iran-Iraq War, Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani was able to protect Iran from the dangers and fluctuations of that era and was able to manage the country in a good manner despite the sanctions imposed on Iran by the enemies and during the era that Iran sold oil for five dollars a barrel.
He was also present on the front lines as an acting commander-in-chief.
In conclusion, Hujjat al-Islam Mohajer said we should appreciate our revolution and the blessings that we have gained from it and always be the guardians of the blood that was shed for the triumph of the Revolution and of individuals like Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani, who spent his life and youth on the path of the Islamic Revolution.
