RNA – Speaking during his jurisprudence class at Qom’s Grand Mosque, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi, referred to the celebration of the Ten-Day Dawn, which mark the 38th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution, and said, “The victory of the Islamic Revolution is similar to a miracle.”
The revered source of emulation considered unity, trust in God and sacrifice as the three major factors in the success of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and said, “These factors were influential in the success of the Islamic Revolution and if we want the Revolution to last, we must promote these factors in society.”
He reaffirmed that trusting in God led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution and added that this trust was such that after Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran, a 2,500-year-old empire fell in less than ten days and the Islamic Revolution was victorious. “This occurred despite the fact that many people thought that the fall of the Pahlavi regime was impossible,” he added.
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said that a single leader during the era of the Islamic movement was very important and added that the Imam Khomeini gathered the people and trusted in God and forced the people to stand up against the Pahlavi regime.
“Without a leader, this couldn’t have occurred and this is a great lesson that we learned from the history of the Islamic Revolution and we must take this lesson as a model,” he said.
He criticized the fact that some individuals trust the imperialist and colonialist governments and said that trust in God means that we don’t trust others and the US and added, “The Americans are not loyal to themselves so how will they fulfill their other obligations?”
The source of emulation reacted to US President Donald Trump’s “Muslim ban” and said, “While the US has issued visas for travelers and students from other countries for years, now the country doesn’t adhere to its own rules and doesn’t act on its own commitments. How can we trust this country?”
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said that adherence to laws and international obligations is necessary for everyone and added, “Where else in the world is it that such lawlessness has become commonplace except in the US?”
Addressing the American government, he said, “Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of terrorism and those who carried out the 9/11 attacks were able to freely travel in and out of the US but you don’t allow Iranians into your country?!”
