RNA – Ayatollah Ali-Reza Arafi spoke at a protest by students of the Islamic Seminary of Qom at Faydhiyah Seminary in condemnation of Al Khalifah regime’s suppression of the revolutionary people of Bahrain and the attack against the spiritual leader of the tiny Persian Gulf country’s Shi’ah majority, Ayatollah Isa Qasim.

The head of the Islamic Seminaries of Iran said that this large gathering of enthusiastic seminary students demonstrates that the Islamic Seminaries of Iran and the world are sensitive and are not indifferent to the events that are currently happening in Bahrain.

He referred to recent events in Bahrain and condemned the foolish and unwise actions carried out by the tiny Persian Gulf country’s Al Khalifah regime and added that the Iranian people are sensitive to the arrest of some Bahraini citizens and the imprisonment of their leaders for the same reason, seminary students and other people of Iran have announced their support for the oppressed people of Bahrain and Ayatollah Qasem and attend these protests.

Ayatollah Arafi noted the widespread presence of seminary students in support of the Bahraini people and said, “We hope that Bahrain’s rulers understand the depth of this solidarity with the scholars and youths of Bahrain and end their recklessness and cruelty against the Bahraini people.”

The head of al-Mustafa International University said that Iran’s sources of emulation and scholars are very concerned about what is happening to Ayatollah Qasim and if the Bahraini court takes an inappropriate and oppressive decision in regard to this revered scholar and mujtahid, it will have enormous repercussions throughout the entire world.

Ayatollah Arafi added, “The calmness and restraint of Bahrain’s youth has limits and boundaries but if the patience of these young people wears thin then no one can stand in front of them.”

The member of the Supreme Council of Islamic Seminaries also repeatedly warned the Bahraini government that any unreasonable action will enhance the people’s sensitivity and increase the turbulence throughout the entire region.”

Bahrain’s judiciary has scheduled another hearing session in the trial of Ayatollah Qasim for next month amid angry anti-regime rallies across the kingdom.

On Monday, a Bahraini judicial source announced that the next hearing will take place on February 12. A court session was held in the capital Manama earlier in the day in the absence of Ayatollah Qasim and under tight security measures.

Ahead of the hearing, over 150,000 Bahraini protesters held numerous demonstrations in solidarity with the opposition cleric in 48 villages around across Bahrain, Hujjat al-Islam Husayn al-Dayhi, the Deputy Secretary-General of the al-Wefaq National Islamic Society.
