RNA – Addressing worshippers at Friday prayers at the University of Tehran. Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Movahedi-Kermani recommended the new US president not to make a mistake in recognizing terrorism and to refrain from labeling those defending their own countries terrorists.

Trump, who has come to power with pledges of serving the US, making up for the previous government’s policies, saving the needy, and fighting against terrorism, had better fulfill his pledges, the cleric noted.

The previous administrations have brought shame on the US, Ayatollah Movahedi-Kermani added, saying Trump is indeed a “heir to a poor and hungry country.”

Trump should try to replace the wrong policy of supporting the oppressors with the culture of serving American people, the cleric underlined, but noted that it will not be easy to change the “arrogant and bullying” nature of the former officials.

Donald Trump took power as the 45th US president on January 20 and signaled the possibility of a more aggressive approach to Daesh terrorist group.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis has urged Trump to be guided by ethical values, saying he must take care of the poor and the outcast.
