RNA – Ayatollah Najmoddin Tabasi, a member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, met with a group of scholars from the West African country of Mali on Tuesday and said that media propaganda is being spread by the spiteful enemies in such a way that some people think that Shi’ahs believe that Imam Khomeini was a prophet.

The Iranian cleric stated that the people of Africa live in spiritual poverty but God Almighty has granted the scholars of Mali grace in order to propagate Islam among the people of African countries.

He warned about the influence of Wahhabism in Mali and said that Islamic scholars should be careful that Wahhabis, who have the appearance of Muslims, do not enter African countries.

Ayatollah Tabasi added that the aim of the Wahhabis is create division and conflict in various countries and they must be careful not to get trapped in their deception and trickery.

The teacher in the Islamic Seminary said that he frequently traveled to Saudi Arabia during the Hajj pilgrimage and heard from people across the country that Wahhabis, while having long beards and crying a lot in prayer, seek to deceive the people and that they also drink wine in their homes.

He called for the promotion of pure Muhammadan Islam and said, “The scholars of Mali must seek to promote Islam and the build culture and explain the Holy Quran through the use of the narrations of the Ahlul-Bayt in plain language.”

Ayatollah Tabasi noted that Shi’ahs consider the Ahlul-Bayt as the saints and Imams and that Sunnis aren’t the enemies of Ahlul-Bayt but rather “Nasibis” and those who sit at the table of Umayyad Dynasty engage in insulting the Ahlul-Bayt are the enemies of the Ahlul-Bayt.

He considered the Wahhabis as the Kharijites of the modern era and added, “Wahhabis are the same as the Umayyads and have only changed their name.”

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom said that while the Wahhabis have specified a reward to destroy the holy shrines of the Imam, they have no plans to demolish the graves of their own scholars.

“The Wahhabis hostility isn’t directed at the shrines of Imams themselves, but rather their hostility is aimed at the enemies of the lovers of these shrines,” said.

Ayatollah Tabasi noted that some differences among Muslims are natural but stressed upon protecting the unity among Muslims despite the differences among them.
