Ayatollah Rajabi:
Rasa – A member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom has said that due to the Islamic Revolution, Iran has gained political independence but has not yet achieved cultural and economic independence due to “disbelief in Islamic culture and infatuation with Western culture among officials.”

RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Mahmoud Rajabi, a member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, referred to the progress and independence of the Iranian nation in the political arena and at the same time not achieving cultural and economic independence and said Iran’s political independence is due to the fact that the late Imam Khomeini had the greatest role in the international system of his era due to his firm stances and  Ayatollah Khamenei also has a well-managed foreign policy.

The deputy of the Imam Khomeini Education and Research Institute added that Imam Khomeini didn’t allow the principle of “neither East nor West” or the principle of fighting against imperialism to be weakened and his emphasis on these principles led to other systems to surrender to Iran’s strong resistance in the international arena.

He said that the activities and support from various Islamic movements that Iran had in the international arena and its significant presence in strengthening Islamic and independent systems in the international arena has resulted in victories for these nations and these victories have established the Islamic Republic of Iran as a models for other Islamic countries.

Ayatollah Rajabi stated that when the Islamic Awakening began, the conditions had been laid for Iran to be spoken of as a power in the international arena. “Due to the wise measures of the Supreme during the time of Imam Khomeini, as well as during the present time, Iran has been able to put its discourse in the international arena into practice,” he stressed.

The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said that exporting Iran’s Islamic Revolution means to export its culture and stated that some officials from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance say that Islamic terminology and that which promotes an Islamic identity and the spirit of the original culture of the Islamic Revolution must be removed.

He added, “If Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance doesn’t work to promote religious culture and rather acts in opposition to religious culture, how can we, in such an environment, promote our cultural values and be a model for society?”

Ayatollah Rajabi stated that certain figures wanted Iran to be a democracy in the Western sense but fortunately, the Supreme Leader’s warnings prevented this. “If it wasn’t for the warnings of the Leader about the threat of a culture invasion, it wouldn’t be known if anything would remain of our Islamic culture,” he said.

He stressed that disbelief in Islamic culture and infatuation with Western culture among officials is the source of cultural weakness and has led to the presence of false Western culture and the Western lifestyle in some parts of our society.
