RNA – In an interview on LuaLua TV, Hujjat al-Islam Husayn Ghabris, a member of Lebanon’s Association of Muslim Scholars spoke about the execution of three anti-regime Shi’ah activists in Bahrain over their alleged role in a 2014 bomb attack in the tiny Persian Gulf nation and said, “This issue shows that the Al Khalifah regime, because of its dependence on and guidance from foreign powers, has lost all respect.”
Sami Mushayma’, Abbas Jamil Tahir al-Sami’ and Ali Abdul-Shahid al-Sinkis were executed on Sunday over allegations of killing a member of Emirati forces who had been assisting Manama in its suppression of Bahraini protesters in the northern village of al-Dayh back in March 2014.
After the regime in Manama carried out the death verdicts, angry demonstrations began in the villages of Diraz, Bani Jamrah and Sanabis.
Hujjat al-Islam Ghabris stressed that the Bahraini government continues to inflict oppression on all Bahraini citizens and in this regard, has put even more pressure on the Shi’ah clergy than others.
The Shi’ah cleric pointed to the condemnation of the actions of the Al Khalifah regime by Sunni and Shi’ah scholars and said, “The Al Khalifah regime is suppressing the freedoms of the Bahraini people, banning the establishment of congregational prayers, targeting Ayatollah Isa Qasim, who is the most revered Bahraini cleric, has continued its imprisonment of clerics, especially Shaykh Ali Salman, and has stripped native Bahrainis of their citizenship.”
The Lebanese cleric added that this regime only thinks of only their own interests and does not give any importance to the rights of the people of Bahrain.
“The international community must pressure the regime to stop these crimes,” he emphasized.
In conclusion, Hujjat al-Islam Ghabris addressed the people of Bahrain and said, “Your patience and persistence exhausts and weakens the Al Khalifah regime and by standing together, you can achieve true justice and democracy in Bahrain.”
Bahrain, home to US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, has been rocked by a wave of anti-regime demonstrations since mid-February 2011.
Scores of people have been killed and hundreds of others wounded or detained amid Manama’s ongoing crackdown on dissent and widespread discrimination against the country’s Shi’ah majority.
