RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Molavi Nazir Ahmad Salami, the representative of Sistan and Baluchestan province in the Assembly of Experts, spoke on the occasion of Islamic Unity Week, which is celebrated between the 12th to the 17th Rabi’ al-Awwal on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, saying, “Unity is emphasized as one of the important religious teachings in the Quran, narrations, traditions of the Messenger of God and in the teachings of the Imams.”
“Unity means that everyone can follow their own religion but are united with each other against the enemies,” he said.
The Iranian Sunni cleric said that unity between Sunni and Shi’ah Muslims is more important during the present time than during all other times and it is requested that Muslims and the Islamic ummah pursue the issue of unity with sincerity.
“In words, we may not ignore the importance of unity but in practice, there are many factors in which we haven’t achieved the desired results,” he said.
Molavi Salami explained that Muslims and influential people haven’t all agreed on the issue of Islamic unity in a practical manner and said, “Although outwardly, there may not be any disagreement between individuals, in a practical manner, many leaders haven’t taken any action and aren’t ready to take action on the issue of Islamic unity.”
He added that some experts and some institutions seek to achieve unity and in Iran, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has given much importance to this issue and many of his lectures are on the importance of the unity of the Islamic ummah nation.
“Also,” he added, “conferences on this issue are held in Iran every year.”
His Eminence stated that, unfortunately, in other Muslim countries, such seriousness isn’t given to the issue of Islamic unity and said, “It’s demanded that other countries, scholars, clerics and the educated and elite classes give consideration and importance to the issue of unity.”
Molavi Salami said that unity is a religious and social mission and the guarantor of victory and honour against the powers and enemies of the Islamic ummah and noted, “We believe and the enemies know that the only path toward victory for the Islamic ummah and the only path toward ending the current crises is through unity.”
The representative of Sistan and Baluchestan in the Assembly of Experts said the enemies of the Islamic ummah observe and know that if the Islamic ummah achieves unity and if Islamic countries unite and achieve solidarity and if political and social unity is created, they will be defeated.
Molavi Salami said that if unity is achieved, the enemies won’t be able to tolerate it because they wouldn’t be able to act on or achieve their goals in the Islamic world and for this reason, they’re scheming to prevent the unity and solidarity of Islamic ummah.
