RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi, the member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, said that the extension of the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) by both the United States’ Senate and House of Representatives for another ten years is a violation of JCPOA and called for officials to react in a practical manner in regard to the violation of this agreement.

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom added that the violation of the JCPOA and the renewal of sanctions is a symbol of the Americans’ disloyalty, arrogance, oppressive and cruel nature. “Almost unanimously, the Senate and House of Representatives, both Republicans and Democrats, approved the extension of the ISA,” he said.

Ayatollah Ka’bi said that Josh Earnest, the White House spokesman, said that the Obama administration retained “substantial authority to impose sanctions against Iran” and this disloyalty becomes clearer every day.

“According to the laws of the US, if Congress approves a bill by a vote of more than two-thirds of congressmen, it will be implemented, whether or not the president approves it or vetoes it,” he said.

He added that a president’s veto and the suspension of a bill doesn’t have an effect for more than two to three and half months and again, Congress can insist on a vetoed bill and of course, [President Barack] Obama doesn’t even have two months left.

Ayatollah Ka’bi explained that the cruel and oppressive actions by the US against the Islamic Republic of Iran is an attempt to cripple the sacred system in Iran and the Iranian people and said, “The reciprocal actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran will make them regretful.”

He said that during the nuclear negotiations, Iran had two unsuccessful experiences, one issue was the suspension of its nuclear program and the second issue was the JCPOA. Everyone who wants to repeat this experience will be regretful.

“Unfortunately, the foundation of Iran’s negotiations with the US was built on the false basis of efforts to build confidence and to gain the trust of the Americans and European countries,” he said.

Ayatollah Ka’bi pointed out that the basis of this issue is false and the second issue is based on the ties between economic openness and the subject of nuclear energy and the lifting of sanctions, while the US’ issue with the Islamic Republic is not the nuclear energy issue.
