RNA – In a speech at a memorial service for Martyr Mahdi Zeynoddin and the 6,000 martyrs from Qom province at Qom’s Imam Khomeini Complex, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Ebrahim Raeisi said that the light of Imam Husayn and the martyrs of Ashura cleansed society of ignorance.
“The martyrs discovered the power of recognizing the enemies and the necessity of resistance on the path of achieving one’s objectives,” he said.
The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Ridha added that the Islamic Awakening that exists today in Muslim countries and societies is thanks to the blood of the martyrs and is the manifestation of the blood of the martyrs.
He said that the Yemeni people are an example of sacrifice and the message of Ashura as they have been resisting against the imperialist powers for more than a year. Another example is the resistance of the Shi’ahs of Nigeria who recently witnessed the massacre of almost 100 innocent people on the eve of Arba’in. The same is occurring in Iraq and Syria.
Hujjat al-Islam Raeisi said that today, the role model for humankind is the “Master of the Martyrs,” Husayn ibn Ali and referring to Hezbollah’s liberation of southern Lebanon, added that the Lebanese people aren’t the same people who yesterday suffered under the criminal Israeli occupation of part of their country.
“Today, due to the presence of Hezbollah and the religious people of Lebanon, what courage do the enemies have to look down on the Lebanese?” he said.
The Iranian cleric said the Palestine people learned from the Lebanese that the key to victory is not through the negotiating table or through liberation organizations but rather the secret to victory is reliance on God and self-confidence.
“Mankind must resist and today their initiatives are due to the actions of the Palestinian warriors and not through liberation organizations and this is thanks to the blood of martyrs,” he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Raeisi added that through the pure blood of the martyrs, Islamic society has been cleansed of ignorance, but added that there is a difference between old and modern ignorance, saying, “In regard to modern ignorance, science, technology, wealth, power, media and the news empires are powerful but they hide behind all the ‘isms’ and present an ‘ironed out’ form of ignorance but cultural, moral and practical ignorance is still ignorance.”
