Rasa – Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, the chairman of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought met with Ayatollah al-Hakim, a senior Shi’ah cleric, In the Iraqi city of Najaf on Sunday November 13.

RNA – During the meeting, Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Sa’id al-Hakim made some remarks regarding the organization of a caravan under the name of ‘Islamic Approximation’ which consists of Sunni and Shi’ah clerics who will take part in this year’s Arba’in pilgrimage.

 

The Iraqi source of emulation admired this event and considered it as a great and valuable step toward further approximation of Shi’ah and Sunni Muslims.


 
He also added, “The Arba’in pilgrimage is something of a miracle.”


 
The senior Iraqi cleric further stressed that Shi’ah religious scholars must not take a hostile approach towards other Islamic sects and their adherents.

 

He added that one of the major issues which is currently of great importance in the Islamic world is the issue of Islamic unity and stability, “Any sectarian measures that could cause division among Muslims, particularly Shi’ahs, must be strictly avoided.”
 

 

During the meeting, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki also presented a report on the programs of the Islamic Approximation Arba’in caravan consisting of Shi’ah and Sunni scholars.

 

He also announced that the above-mentioned caravan will take part in the Arba’in pilgrimage this year.
