RNA – Speaking to a group of university professors from Iraq’s Islamic Denominations University, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani said that the issue of proximity and unity among Muslims is very necessary and effective in the current era.
The revered source of emulation referred to a narration from the Prophet Muhammad and explained that recognizing one’s time means recognizing the people of that time, the events of the time and the friends and enemies of the time and added, “In the current era, our knowledge is combined with politics. For this reason, we must pay attention to politics and time management.”
He added that Islam does not separate politics from religion and science and added that Islam is like a virtuous tree which has many branches including science, politics and economics.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani explained that at the present time, we should pay attention to the various dimensions of Islam, saying, “Shi’ah and Sunni Muslims are all brothers and the Ahlul-Bayt urged their followers to pray in Sunni mosques and behind Sunni prayer leaders and to socialize and have love for them.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said that the more Sunnis and Shi’ahs become closer together, the stronger they become against the enemies and said, “The greater the distance between Shi’ahs and Sunnis becomes, the enemies become more courageous.”
He said although there has been dialogue, we must be aware of the trends and events of the day and be united with each other and not allow the enemies to advance because they do not differ between Shi’ahs and Sunnis but rather they want to destroy Islam entirely.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that al-Azhar University used to have friendly relations with Shi’ah Muslims but since Saudi Arabia established the Salafist al-Nour Party in Egypt after the 2011 Egyptian Revolution and used its oil and gas money to gain dominance in the North African country, they have attacked Shi’ahs.
“Sunnis and Shi’ahs have one enemy and for this reason, they must be united and in line with scientific progress in the Islamic world, they must be involved in political issues and confront the Takfiri phenomenon which is backed by the United States and the West,” he stressed.
He emphasized that we cannot be indifferent in regard to the events occurring in Syria, Yemen and Bahrain, saying, “The enemies have invested in these countries and with their lackeys, the Al Khalifah and Al Saud, they are working against Islam and as Islamic scholars and as Muslims be cannot be indifferent or silent in the face of the oppressed and for this reason, we must be united to fight against the enemies.”
