RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi referred to Saturday’s meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland in regard to the crisis in Syria and said, “From the very beginning, the Islamic Republic of Iran has believed that the Syrian issue cannot be solved through terrorism but also believes that the people should determine their own course and foreign countries should not interfere in the internal fate of the Syrian people.”
On Saturday, the latest round of talks aimed at putting an end to the crisis in Syria were convened by the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, in the Swiss city of Lausanne with the participation of foreign ministers from Russia, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt as well as the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
The representative of Khuzestan in the Assembly of Experts added that the democratic process is an internationally acceptable democratic process and the great powers cannot determine the duties on behalf of the Syrian people.
“The experience of Syria’s past elections showed that the people hold an unanimous opinion in regard to the necessity of non-interference by foreign countries in their country and voted against the terrorists,” he said.
Ayatollah Ka’bi said that at the meeting in Lausanne and afterwards, the US seeks to be the spokesman of the terrorists in order to weaken and destroy Syria’s independence and added that they are seeking an escape for the terrorists in order that they survive and remain present on the scene.
“Today, everyone knows that if the US, Turkey and Saudi Arabia stop supporting Takfiri terrorists, a political solution to the Syrian issue can be reached quickly. Iran, Syria and Russia are participating in the talks in order to have the last word,” he said.
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom said that experience has shown that in order to solve the Syrian conflict, it is necessary to resist and fight against the Takfiri-Salafi movement, which is made up of Daesh and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham and supported by the US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and their allies.
Ayatollah Ka’bi said that the US is attempting to create a new scheme in the region and wants to save its Daesh mercenaries from being annihilated in the operation to liberate Mosul and to establish a central base for them in Syria in order to fight against the government in Syria.
“The US is the source of international sedition, criminality and murder against the innocent people of the region, including Yemen and Syria,” he stressed.
