RNA – During his jurisprudence class in Qom’s Grand Mosque, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani referred to the approach of the solemn month of Muharram and said that preaching and promoting the knowledge of the Ahlul-Bayt and explaining the nature of the Islamic Revolution is the main duty and mission of missionaries.
The revered source of emulation said that Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution is the reason for the dignity of Muslims and freedom lovers throughout the world and humiliated the imperialist powers, saying, “The scholars and clergy have heavy duties in regard to the Islamic Revolution, which emanated from events of Ghadir and Ashura and these duties pave the way for the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi.”
He stated the duty of all seminarians and clerics is the propagation of religious teachings and added that there isn’t a day where various excuses are offered to avoid our duties to engage in missionary activities.
Referring to the verse 9:122 of the Holy Quran, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that after reaching a certain level in their seminary studies and learning religious sciences, seminarians have a duty to engage in the promotion of Islam and not to focus solely on the holy city of Qom.
His Eminence called on eulogists and preachers to use documented material and cite strong sources in their eulogies, speeches and missionary activities.
Compromise with enemies of Islam makes no sense
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said that compromise with those who are continuously thinking about overthrowing the Islamic system and who every day design a conspiracy against the state and the people makes no sense. “Relations with the world must be based on Islamic criteria and the interests of the people,” he added.
In another part of his lecture, the distinguished teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom stressed upon the need for vigilance during the Muharram mourning ceremonies and emphasized on the need to refrain from any action which is insulting toward Islam and other sects and added that self-flagellation is insulting toward mourning for Imam al-Husayn and have been declared unlawful.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said mourning ceremonies stand in front of anything that causes dissension between Sunnis and Shi’as. “Today our basic need is to maintain unity among Muslims, especially Shi’as and Sunnis,” he said.
He added that insulting the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, the religious figures of other sects and Sunni leaders is prohibited.
