RNA – Shaykh Ahmad al-Qattan, a senior Sunni cleric from Lebanon, attended a meeting with Hujjat al-Islam Mojtaba Maleki, the head of the Islamic Seminaries of Iran’s Golestan province, during which he said, “We are sincerely working in Lebanon to strengthen Islamic unity among our citizens in order to fight the extremists and Takfiri threats, this is our religious duty.”
The Lebanese cleric added, “Our institution in Lebanon is called ‘Words and Action’ and the reason we named it that way is for us to try and demonstrate our intentions by taking meaningful actions.”
He then pointed at the fact that there are numerous sects in Lebanon and further expressed that the situation in the Middle East is critical, adding, “In order to overcome the difficult challenges that we are currently facing in the Islamic world, Shi’as and Sunnis need to stand united as whole and try to discuss their differences in a peaceful and friendly way.”
“The main way to fight the Israeli regime is through resistance, and everything associated with Takfirism comes from the US and the hegemonic powers,” the head of the Lebanese Reform and Unity Movement concluded.
