RNA – During a meeting with Nigerian scholars, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi, a member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, pointed to the dramatic growth of Islam in Africa and said that today, African countries, especially Nigeria, are in a state of awakening which is the cause of a movement toward the end of ignorance, poverty and disunity.

The senior Iranian cleric stated that original Islam is following the Ahlul-Bayt and added that intellect, love, friendship, human virtue, justice, ethics and efforts to build an ideal society and peaceful life depends on adherence to the original Islam.

“When the people of the world see the wisdom, morality, oppression and justice of the Ahlul-Bayt, they are naturally attracted to Islam,” he said.

He said that Shi’as have faced attacks from Takfiri groups due to Saudi Arabia’s financial support for such groups and added that the main factor for spreading Islam in African countries or throughout the world in general is not to gain the support of governments or material things but rather, the key is adherence to the Ahlul-Bayt.

Ayatollah Ka’bi pointed out the personality of Shaykh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Shi’as of Nigeria, said that Shaykh Zakzaky is a pure man who has strived to introduce the truth of the Iranian Islamic Revolution and the religion of Islam to Nigerian society.

His Eminence noted that during the time when the late leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, was in the hospital, Shaykh Zakzaky met with him and the Imam gave him a Quran and asked him to introduce true and genuine Islam by the means of this divine book, just as the Prophet Muhammad did.

“After thus meeting, Shaykh Zakzaky returned to Nigeria to introduce the Iranian Islamic Revolution, the message of Imam Khomeini and to propagate of Islam through the Holy Quran,” he said.

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom stated that the leadership of the Ahlul-Bayt transcends the boundaries of ethnicity and tribalism and they have assumed the leadership of humanity.

He called the Nigerian military’s massacre of Shi’as in the city of Zaria a “strategic mistake” and said that instead of helping Shaykh Zakzaky, the Nigerian government gave the government of Saudi Arabia the green light to commit crimes against the Shi’a community in the country and sold their souls for domestic and international reaction.

Ayatollah Ka’bi called for the issues surrounding Shaykh Zakzaky’s detention to be pursued and stressed that the eminent scholar was not a threat to the Nigerian government but rather, his activities were very useful for the country.
