RNA – Speaking during his class at Qom’s Grand Mosque, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi explained a narration on ethics from Nahj al-Fasahah [The Height of Rhetoric] and said, “treason, robbery, adultery and drinking alcohol are considered the four major sins and according to the Prophet Muhammad, if even one of them enters into one’s house, that house will be demolished and its blessings will be removed from it.”
The revered source of emulation explained, “Unfortunately, the world today is guilty of all four of these cases, including the treason existent in the world, pyramid schemes, money laundering and so forth. Through various techniques, they are engaging in various scams.”
He added that other forms of corruption, moral perversion and sexual corruption are also rampant in the world and unfortunately, this is propagated on social media networks to such an extent that people are even ashamed to explain it.
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi emphasized that most of the wealth in the world is spent on building weapons of mass destruction and in this world where there are so many resources, unfortunately, there are so many poor people and millions of people die of starvation every year.
“How many people in this world are hindered from school due to poverty and how many are not able to treat their illnesses due to the effects of poverty,” he lamented.
His Eminence criticized the rulers of Saudi Arabia and said Saudi Arabia uses its oil revenues in order to destroy Islamic countries and added, “If these are used for construction, what would happen?”
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi emphasized that there are poor people who live miserably in Saudi Arabia but Saudi rulers spend their money to destroy Islamic countries and other countries. “Wherever there is murder and destruction, there is Saudi Arabia and Wahhabism,” he stressed.
The Iranian scholar described Wahhabism as a false and deviant sect and added that the teachings of Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab are the source of the current problems, he said.
In other comments, he criticized the double standard policies of American officials and said recently, the US bombed the Syrian forces near Dayr al-Zawr in the name of fighting against Daesh and slaughtered 90 people.
In conclusion, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said there is a lot of lying and betrayal, and added, “In such a world, we have two tasks: the first is to enjoin the good and forbid the wrong as much as we can and the second is to pray for the hastening of the return of Imam al-Mahdi.”
