RNA – In an interview with the media, Hujjat al-Islam Hadi Doustmohammadi, the trustee of Tehran’s Imam Musa ibn Ja’far Seminary, stated that in the Holy Quran, God addressed the Prophet Muhammad that if he did not convey that Imam Ali was his successor to the people, it would be as if Islam was also not conveyed to the people.
“This demonstrates the tremendous importance Eid al-Ghadir,” he stressed.
He explained that if Imam Ali was not introduced as the successor to the Prophet Muhammad and if the event of Ghadir Khumm did not occur, it means that Islam had not been introduced to the people.
Hujjat al-Islam Doustmohammadi said, “The day of Eid al-Ghadir is the ‘day of the completion’ and the ‘day of the deliverance’ because the Quran has emphasized that if Ghadir did not occur and if the Commander of the Faithful [Imam Ali] was not the successor of the Prophet and the caliph of the Muslims, it would be as if Islam was not conveyed. Thus, Eid al-Ghadir is everything in Islam,” he said.
The Iranian cleric added that if you see that today the Islamic world is suffering from numerous tribulations, including the crimes of Takfiri terrorist groups, it is due to their dissociation from Ghadir and their rejection of it.
He said, “If today we see the enemies a lot, it is so convenient for them to create problems for the Islamic world. For this reason, some in the Muslim world did not want to understand Ghadir but rather, in these circumstances we would not say they did not want to understand complete Islam and true Islam.”
Hujjat al-Islam Doustmohammadi explained that if Ghadir was understood and accepted by all Muslims, no force could challenge Islam. “The problems facing the Islamic world began from the moment when some people did not want to understand Ghadir and in a sense, true Islam,” he emphasized.
The cleric said, that for these reasons especially, it must be said that love and hatred, the ignorance of the Arabs, the dominant tribal culture in Arab societies, nationalism, and so on, led to the lack of acceptance of the words of truth by some of people and due to their selfishness, Islam was torn in two.
He explained that the division of Muslims is due to the rejection of the event of Ghadir Khumm by a number of Muslims and due to this, Islamic unity vanished from Islamic society. “If Ghadir and the words of the Prophet were accepted on the day of Ghadir, the fragmentation of the Muslim world would be meaningless,” he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Doustmohammadi added that all Muslims must realize that in the continuation of monotheism and prophethood, there is imamate and wilayah (guardianship) and all these have a purpose. Even in some areas, the issue of imamate is the same as monotheism. This means that imamate is part of monotheism and is the basis of Islam and is not separate from monotheism, Islam or prophethood.
In conclusion, His Eminence said that the Prophet Muhammad commanded on the day of Eid al-Ghadir, “Today, I would like to say that by announcing this important issue, I am acting so that until the Day of Judgement, there are no problems among Muslims.”
