RNA – In his Friday Prayers sermon in Sidon, Shaykh Suhayb Habli noted that the religiously mixed Lebanese city of Sidon is a symbol of openness and acceptance of all but added that a threatening statement from Daesh has been circulating on social networking websites against the Sidon International Festival does not mean that this Takfiri terrorist group can confiscate the freedom of others because a true Muslim would adhere to a nation’s laws rather than trying to overcome them.

The Lebanese Sunni scholar called for all sides' respect for the feelings of others, especially after a recent painful tourist boat accident in the city which led to casualties.

Shaykh Habli praised the achievements made by the country’s General Directorate of General Security in regard to the discovery and dismantling of a terrorist group in the Beqaa valley city of Zahleh and condemned the terrorist attacks made against the country’s security forces.

The member of the Assembly of Muslim Scholars added that the Public Security Institution, under the command of Major-General Abbas Ibrahim, is working to maintain security for Lebanon and its citizens and avoiding political interests and sectarian tendencies which weaken the country.

He called on them not to interfere in matters of security and isolation of keep them away from deceptive issues and political disputes.

In other remarks, Shaykh Habli referred to the September 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre, saying this event is a stigma on the forehead of the Zionist regime and those within Lebanon and the international Arab organizations which interact with the regime and seek to compromise with them over the Palestinian issue.

“But we will see how the blood and the will of the Palestinian people have created a new intifada in Jerusalem al-Quds and until they confirm that resistance is the only way to victory over and the only way to defeat this enemy which knows only the language of force,” he said.

This week marks the 34th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, where Israeli forces, under the command of Ariel Sharon, seized two Palestinian refugee camps in southern Lebanon before massacring thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children.
