RNA – Ayatollah Afif al-Nablusi, the Friday prayer leader of Sidon said that “It is unfortunate that while we celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Islamic ummah is facing difficult challenges because of the spread of a political ideology which seeks to dominate the present and the future of Muslims.”

The Lebanese Shi’a cleric referred to the great tragedy which occured in Mina, against the Hajj pilgrims in September 2015 and said that the Hajj should have occured in a completely secure environment but we witnessed such a horrific disaster in a holy place due to the actions of the Saudi regime.

He added that which occurred in Mina confirms that the Saudi regime deliberately insulted the victims of the Mina stampede and dealt with the countries that called for investigations and compensation with offensive and immoral manners.

Ayatollah al-Nablusi noted Saudi Arabia’s widespread support of terrorism and said that the Al Saud has spent millions of dollars to spread their evil ideology and also gives Takfiri terrorist groups millions of dollars in funding.

He added that that the Saudi regime has set aside millions of dollars to ignite sectarian strife and to enflame ethnic differences throughout the Islamic world and they have spent huge amounts of money on aggressive wars against the people of Iraq, Yemen and Syria.

Saudi Arabia claims that nearly 770 people were killed in the Mina incident. However, Iran, which had the greatest number of deaths among foreign nationals, has put the death toll at more than 7,000. At least 460 Iranian pilgrims were among the victims.

Iran has called for the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate last year’s stampede.

The tragedy came days after a massive construction crane collapsed onto the Grand Mosque, killing more than 100 people, among them 11 Iranian pilgrims.
